Have you ever been to a FootLocker or some other tennis shoe store and brought an ugly pair of shoes? Come on, it happens to all of us. I have a great ugly shoe story to share but I will share that later. The light in FootLocker have special UV rays to make ugly shoes look like gems.
To me this shoe's aesthetic appeal is very low. It's look like snake with a sock attached to the midsole. Maybe it would be cool in a movie set in a distopic furture where people had to parque free running skills to fight an oppressive regime. As to what the regime is demanding, who knows, but these shoes may fit in there... maybe? Whoa, got a little heavy there. The Flyknit is on it's 3rd iteration and this one isn't really doing for me. How about you?
Kobe Bryant is the greatest player of my nephew's time. I'm a little more seasoned, and I watched Michael Jordan play when I was a kid and a teenage. Both Kobe and Jordan have huge shoe contracts and this means new shoes every year. With quantity most times quality goes out the window. Some of these shoes are not appealing at all. For Basketball, this is a major factor of why they're some many ugly shoes. Go look at some of Kobe's Shoes. You will clearly see Kobe wins.
Yes, I have a pair of the spring blades. A few months back, I had to attend an event where I had to wear black shoes. I went with the full Springblade. In the store I thought to myself, these are like something you would see in the movie Blade Runner. Have you seen that movie? If not, stop reading, go watch the movie, and then come back. Did you enjoy it? Good.
My shoes would be ugly in some people book, for various reason. Let's be honest, the midsole is missing a lot of material. Do you think these are ugly or not? I would love to hear your thoughts. Please share them in the comment section below.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Let's take two actresses. I pick Mira Sorvino and Halle Berry. Most of my readers will know who they women are. They're very pretty women. However, this is my assessment. I'm pretty sure you have two different people that come to mind. This is fine and great! It's what makes us individuals. The tastes of individuals are vast and diverse. Again, nothing bad about this.
Taste in women (or men), cars, an clothes are individual tastes. You may see a shoe and love it, but it may look like Snoopy from Charlie Brown. Just be aware that some will beauty in what the majority of people find abhorrent.
As a kid, I had a relative. Let's call him K. K would always botch the lyrics to the songs all the time. I appreciate K for this. It made me really focus on the lyrics in songs. I would have to call K out all the time for misconstrued lyrics. In K's honor, I pulling one of his numbers. Instead of John Gill's 'My, My, My,... you sure look good tonight', I'm going to with 'Why, Why, Why,...Why, the shoes look bad tonight.' Please enjoy a classic by Mr Gill below. This is the essence of how I feel about ugly shoes... with a slightly modified lyrics of course.
Why doesn't Johnny Gill have on a shirt? It was probably too hot. Of course! Thanks for hanging with me this whole time. As far as the original question posed, we are in a consumer economy. People are demanding new sneakers all the time. This is shown by the fact that new Jordans are released every week and people buy them.
Many of the new shoe releases are remixes or tributes to an event or person. The great thing is that there's a steady demand for these releases. I have a pair of really eccentric ASICs. They have light and dark grey camo. They are perfect for me. Some people may say, 'those are ugly shoes!' But for me, they're perfect.
